Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-08-07 · Tadak 1.0.4
Tadak does not collect personal information. We never store or transmit what you type. The only exception is when you activate a paid sound pack with a license key — that exchanges a small amount of information with our payment processor. Every other feature works the same way with no internet connection at all.
1. How we handle keystrokes
Tadak has to detect the moment a key is pressed in order to play a sound. This is the part users are most naturally wary of, so here's exactly what we read and what we don't.
| Category | Detail |
|---|---|
| We read | The key's position code (keycode) and one type flag — whether it's a regular key, space, enter, backspace, tab, or a modifier key |
| We never read | We never look up which character was typed. There is no code path that converts a keystroke into a letter |
| We store | Nothing. The signal is discarded the instant the sound plays — never written to a file or kept in memory |
| We send | Nothing. The app has no mechanism to transmit this data anywhere |
In short, Tadak knows "a key was pressed" — never "which key it was." That's true even while you're typing a password.
2. When you activate a license key
If you enter a license key to unlock the paid sound pack, the following information is sent to Polar, our payment and license-management processor, solely to verify the key:
- The license key you entered
- Your PC name (hostname) — used only to tell how many machines have activated the key
- Tadak's organization identifier — not a secret value, just a public ID that points to our account inside Polar
This exchange happens only at activation time, and again roughly once every 30 days for a quiet background re-check. Everything else — playing sounds, switching presets, saving settings — works independently of any internet connection, and an already-unlocked license stays unlocked offline. Information sent to Polar is handled under Polar's own privacy policy.
3. When auto-mute for video calls is on
If you enable this feature, Tadak checks the program name of your currently active
window (e.g. zoom, teams) about every 1.2 seconds, so typing sounds don't
play into a live call.
- We never read window titles or on-screen content. Only the program name
- The name is checked, used to decide whether to mute, and discarded — never stored
- You can turn this off any time — right-click the tray icon → "Auto-mute when a video call app is detected"
4. What's stored on your PC
Only your settings are saved as a file on your own PC. None of it is personal information.
- Your chosen sound preset, volume, on/off state, launch-at-startup setting, keyboard shortcut, and auto-mute app list
- This file lives in your PC's app settings folder and is never sent anywhere
- Uninstalling the app removes it
5. What we don't collect
Aside from license activation (see section 2), we never collect any of the following:
- Your name, email, phone number, or any other identity information (there is no sign-up)
- The characters you type, on-screen content, clipboard data, or files
- Usage statistics, analytics, or crash reports from the app (it has no telemetry)
- Your IP address, location, or advertising identifiers
Outside of license activation, the Tadak app never talks to any server. Core features, including the free presets, work identically with no internet connection, and an already-unlocked paid tier stays unlocked offline as well.
6. Third parties
The only information we hand off to anyone is what's sent to Polar during license activation (see section 2). Since we don't collect anything else, there's nothing else to share or outsource.
7. When you visit this website
This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site — standard web analytics such as page views and referring pages, tied to a cookie in your browser rather than your identity. This is separate from the desktop app: Tadak the application has no analytics or telemetry of its own, described above. Cloudflare may also process connection logs (IP address, browser information) for security and operations, governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy, and Google Analytics data is governed by Google's privacy policy.
8. Children's privacy
Tadak does not verify age and does not knowingly collect personal information from any user.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll post the update here along with a new revision date. If a change would mean collecting more than we do today, we'll also notify you inside the app.
