You'll see two warnings while installing. That's expected.
- 1 Download If your browser says "This file isn't commonly downloaded", click ⋯ next to the file → Keep.
- 2 Run When "Windows protected your PC" pops up, click More info → Run anyway.
- 3 Install Next → Finish. Once the icon shows up in your system tray, you're done.
This happens because the installer doesn't have a code-signing certificate yet, so Windows flags it as coming from an unrecognized publisher. That doesn't mean the file is corrupted or unsafe. Both warnings go away once we add the certificate.

A program that reads your keystrokes — it's fair to be a little suspicious. So here's exactly where we draw the line.
- What we read — That a key was pressed, and just enough to tell Space or Enter from a regular letter. Nothing more. Used only to pick the right sound.
- What we discard — The exact character you typed is gone the instant the sound plays. Never written to a file, never stored in memory.
- What we never send — The app makes zero network calls related to your typing. It works exactly the same offline.
- Don't take our word for it — Block Tadak in your firewall. Everything works exactly as before.

FAQ
Common questions before you install
I get a warning when I download or run it
Both warnings are expected, and they share the same cause: this file doesn't have a code-signing certificate yet, so your browser and Windows both treat it as an unrecognized program. That doesn't mean the file is corrupted or malicious.
1) Browser — If it says "This file isn't commonly downloaded," click ⋯ next to the file → Keep (Edge: Keep anyway).
2) Windows — If "Windows protected your PC" appears, click More info → Run anyway.
Both warnings go away once we add the certificate — we'll apply it as soon as it's ready.
If installers are blocked on your work PC, there's a zip version too (110 MB). Unzip it, open the Tadak-1.0.7-win folder, and run Tadak.exe inside. Just make sure you unzip it first — running it straight from inside the zip will throw an error.
My antivirus is flagging this app
To play sounds in every app, Tadak uses the standard Windows keyboard hook — the same mechanism some keyloggers rely on — so a few antivirus tools flag it on behavior alone, even though Tadak never records what you type. What we do and don't collect is explained above.
If it keeps getting blocked, add the install folder to your antivirus's exception list. We're reporting the false positive to vendors as well.
Does it work on Mac or Linux?
Right now, only Windows 10/11 (64-bit) is supported. A Mac version needs its own accessibility-permission approval flow, so it's planned once the Windows version is settled.

What happens if I switch PCs after buying?
Each license key works on one PC. If you get a new PC or reinstall Windows, sign in to your Polar purchase page with the email you bought with, deactivate the old PC, then enter the same key on the new one.
If you can't do it yourself, email brian.lim@meksolution.co.kr and we'll reset it for you.
Can I get a refund?
Because this is digital content, refund rights are limited once a license key has been issued and used (Korean E-Commerce Act, Article 17(2)(5)). We recommend trying the 6 free sounds before buying.
If you haven't entered the key yet, or the app doesn't work properly, you'll get a full refund.
Does it work in full-screen games?
Yes. Keystrokes are still detected in full-screen games. If you only want it off sometimes, mute it with Ctrl+Alt+K or turn it off from the tray icon.
Can I make my laptop keyboard sound like a mechanical keyboard?
Yes — that's exactly what Tadak is for. It works with any physical keyboard, including laptop, membrane, and office keyboards. Pick a switch sound such as Cherry MX Blue, Brown, or Red, and every key you press plays it through your speakers or headphones.
Will people on my video calls hear the typing sounds?
Tadak mutes itself automatically while Zoom, Teams, Discord, or Skype is the active window (on by default). Otherwise it plays through your PC's audio output, like music: with headphones your mic won't pick it up, but on speakers it may, and sharing computer audio will include it. You can always press Ctrl+Alt+K to mute.
How is Tadak different from Mechvibes or Klack?
Mechvibes is a free, open-source app for Windows, macOS, and Linux that uses community sound packs. Klack is a paid Mac-only app ($4.99). Tadak is built for Windows 10/11, ships with 35 sounds (6 free), and mutes itself automatically when a video call app like Zoom or Teams is active. →
